Carrara specializes in selling Liquor Licenses.  Whether a business owner is interested in selling the business with the Liquor License or shutting down the business and selling the Liquor License, Carrara can assist you in both scenarios.  Transferring a Liquor License or selling a business with a Liquor License is complicated.  Any mistake can delay or kill the deal.  Contact us to find out how we can assist you in selling your Liquor License or business.

Buyer Registration
If you are interested in purchasing a Liquor License, Contact us to find out what Liquor Licenses are for sale.  Register in our database of Buyers so that we can contact you when a Liquor License comes available for sale. Carrara maintains a database of liquor license holders in New Jersey as well as a database of individuals or companies seeking to purchase liquor licenses.

Seller Services
Carrara will enter into a Listing Agreement with the owner of the Liquor License to sell the License on behalf of the owner.  We will work to sell your Liquor License at the highest price that the market will bring.  Carrara will market the license for sale utilizing numerous methods and channels such as:  Internet Listing Boards, Direct Marketing to Targeted Buyers, Carrara Buyer Database, Carrara Accounting Firm Network, and many other methods.  Confidentiality is maintained throughout the selling process.  Buyers are screened and qualified before an Offer to Purchase is accepted.  We make the extremely difficult and time consuming task of transferring a liquor license into an easy and fast transaction due to our vast knowledge of the liquor license transfer process.  We do not get paid until closing and charge a reasonable commission of 6% for these services.

Buyer Services
There are approximately 9500 liquor licenses in the State of New Jersey.  Attempting to find an available liquor license is a monumental task.  Carrara will enter into a Finders Fee Agreement with a potential Buyer of a Liquor License.  We are retained to conduct a search within certain parameters such as Type of license and geography.

License Types

Type 33.  (“C”)  Plenary Retail Consumption License.  This license authorizes the sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the licensed premises by the glass or other open receptacle and also allows the sale of alcoholic beverages in original containers for consumption off the licensed premises.  Such sales of package goods, however, may only take place from the public barroom, and the package goods may only be displayed for sale on its perimeter walls.  Where this license is granted, no other mercantile or commercial activity may take place on the licensed premises except for certain activities such as a restaurant or the sale of snack or certain other items enumerated in the statue.  The annual fee for this license is set by the municipality between $250 and $2500.  The municipality can issue a Type 33 license for each 3000 of its population.

Type 32.  (Broad “C”)  Plenary Retail Consumption License with “Broad Package Privilege”.  This license is another Plenary Consumption License except the sale of package good is not restricted to the public barroom. This “broad package privilege” ws added to certain Plenary Retail Consumption Licenses in 1948, and those licenses continue to retain that privilege.  These licenses are counted as Plenary Retail Consumption Licenses for the purpose of the population limitation.  The annual fee for this license is set by the municipality between $250 and $2500.  (See NJSA 33:1-12.33; NJAC 13:2-35.)

Type 44.  (“D”)  Plenary Retail Distribution License.  This license permits only the sale of alcoholic beverages in original containers for consumption off the licensed premises (package goods).  Other mercantile or commercial activity is permitted on the license premises unless it is prohibited by municipal ordinance.  The annual fee for this license is set by the municipality between $125 and $2500.  Only one “D” license may be issued for each 7500 of population in a municipality.
